So, I went to the Eastside Club tonight to meet the Grand Inquisitor out of Nowhere to pick up some drum heads. I misplaced the flyer Drew gave me at the gas station food mart the other night.... The Seoul Survivors were playing when I got there. Two saxes, phat bass, guitar, drums, front man singin it seoulfully... awesome. Guess I missed the mellonballer quartet. One of these days I gotta hear them. Seoul Survivors rocked it. Some friends came with face paint and mardi gras beads and gave me a string with a gold bone that says "creme d'etat". Guess that's "cream of the crop", or something like that. Survivors got me dancin' by the speaker. Good good good stuff. I didn't even mind missing the grand inquisitor. Don't know who that is, and who doesn't love a good mystery? And who doesn't love two phat saxes with phat bass and smooth vocals, solid drums and guitar? Know I do. Night before, or guess it was Saturday night, heard Sandman at the Capitol Theater. Awesome. The man is brilliant. Hip hop to Johnny Cash, he covers the entire gamut. I think that Persian Den of Sin song might have made my girlfriend blush! Awesome. got some cds --- looking forward to playing them... many styles this man covers. He did a rap about Bush and Bin Laden a few years back that was crucial... and he was Slippery Goodstuff around Halloween one year at the Cap. Awesome. Alright, that's enough blogging for one early morning phat tuesday. Lovin' it! |

It has the lyric that is the name of the band. In the liner notes, there is a poem penned by A.A. Milne. "It's a very funny thought that, if Bears were Bees,
They'd build their nests at the bottom of trees, And that being so (if Bees were Bears), We shouldn't have to climb up all these stairs." -Pooh I love the lyrics. These guys, at the party the other night, got me high with their music, as the Doors said is done with truly amazing music. I love the lyrics, and the music is beautiful, and the band is together live, as they are on the cd. I bought two copies of the cd. One for me, and the other for a friend. Among the others wonderful musicians were Allison Millham, The HotShots, and The Well Beings. Allison Millham played through a looping pedal, keyboard, freeing her to focus on her beautiful vocals. Here lyrics are thoughtful, deep lyrics. There was a song I thought could be from the viewpoint of a tree. There was a song asking who lived in your house before you, and who before that. There was a song that made me feel deeply, with intense lyrics of trying situations for her red headed friend. It was intense and amazing. Worth the time to hear her sing, if she is near your neighborhood, or you feel like visiting her web page http://www.myspace.com/allisonmilhammusic The HotShots were Thumpalicious. Pretty loud. At first I had some trouble getting into it. Then I had a couple strong swigs of strong ale. Before I knew it I was head banging and stomping. Good times. While The Well Beings played I was in the adjoining room, involved in discussions of my opinion that our ideal choice for the Democratic nomination must be The Honorable Congressman Dennis Kucinich for President with The Honorable Senator Barack Obama as V.P. Also, we were discussing the power of positive thinking, that is, how we get what we focus on, or as some really rockin' band put it a few years back, "Your prime pre-occupation is where you go." Meanwhile the sweet sounds of The Well Beings, emanating all through our being. I came to the party specifically because I love hearing The Well Beings, as well as being in their presence. They are wonderful people, and I enjoy being in their presence. I also received two copies of the Shel Silverstien Tribute from Alligator Shoes Recordings One for myself, and one for some friends I told the other day about it . I gave them their copy today. They are stoked. Later that night I saw a sign on a garden center saying they have honeybees. Ah, if bears were bees. |

through the uplifting music & dance of the world at The Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts at South Puget Sound Community College. It was truly amazing. More info on all the artists, and sound clips are available at http://www.olysacredmusic.org/ I purchased 3 cd's: *** Gansango music & dance presents Ji *** *** NABY Camara L'union fait la force *** *** KANE MATHIS & RUSTY KNORR KORA AND PERCUSSION *** These 3 cd's have been in my 5 disc player with The Blackberry Bushes, and Head for the Hills Bluegrass, ever since I got back from the show, on random. Good times! Last night I went to PETER DONALDSON's The Life and Times of Leonardo da Vinci at the STATE THEATER, OLYMPIA. The show is truly amazing. It is also playing tonight and tomorrow, Saturday, is the last night. Go to this show if you can, if you have any interest in history, the Renaissance, the New Renaissance and/or Leonardo da Vinci. It is amazing, and so is the music. Sunday at 2PM at the theater, Peter Donaldson, and local great minds will be facilitating a discussion on the new renaissance. I plan to be there. I believe it will be free to attend, and amazing. I love Olympia! |

. I had a good time listening. Rupert adds a lot on the harmonies and keyboard. Good times. Check 'em. Then I went back to Le Voyeur to hear Audiosattva. They recently added to the bands page, so I had heard some of their music on myspace, and I decided it would be fun to catch 'em live, which was a big part of why I headed for Le Voyeur first tonight. What I caught was good soulful stuff. I look forward to hearing more. Rock on Olympia! |

Friday March 31st I saw SOUR OWL live @ Tugboat Annies. They rocked it funky with 2 saxophonists and a sweet full band sound. On Wednesday the 29th 3:00p I played drums with Pizza T's Z-Kamp Experience Live on KAOS 89.3fm kaosradio.org.. On the 26th I played drums with Pizza T's Z-Kamp Experience 12:00p Benefit for Rec The Place w/ the Cool Guys New Mustache Pizza T's Z-Kamp Exp. Bill Skins 5th Will Punch You Right In The Face! @ the ABC House That was a lot of fun. It's a great place and the other bands were terrific! The night before that we played Le Voyeur. It was fun. I wore a suit and blue sunglasses. I couldn't see, there were bright lights. It sounded good at the time, there's no recording, so you'll have to go back in time if you want to hear it. Some time over Spring Break there was a Gleaners Coalition event at which Fast Rattler played. I enjoyed the music very much, and highly recommend checking out their music and the Gleaners. Oh, and the StickFigure Strippers rocked it at LeVoyeur, and so did SeaMonster. |
